Past Campaigns

Each year, Alberta Health Services identifies the top priority equipment needs for the Northern Lights Health Foundation. Some of the past successful projects that were supported by you, our generous donors, included:

2009 – Operation Miracle (Anesthesia Machines)
Operation Miracle was a success! Approximately $750,000 was raised and five new anesthesia machines have been ordered for the Northern Lights Regional Health Centre.

2008 – Open Your Heart - Cardiac Monitoring System (CMS)
The CMS is currently in the process of being turned from dollars into actual equipment at the Health Centre. Once the CMS is fully operational there will be an enhanced level of diagnostics available for cardiac related issues and more.

2005/2006 – MRI: Imagine the Difference!
Over $3.5 million was raised in 7 months for the purchase and installation of this Region’s only MRI. The MRI facility opened ahead of schedule, in the summer of 2007 and is running at a constant 100% capacity.

Having the MRI in our community saves many trips to Edmonton for those living in the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo.

2003 – Operation Good Health
This initiative was funded by over $1 million that you, our donors contributed. The Health Centre was able to replace outdated equipment, maximize the efficiency of the operating rooms, reduce patient surgical times, improve patient recovery times, and reduce occupational health and safety risks for our staff.

2000/2001 – CT Scan
The first CT Scan in this region was purchased with $1.12 million. The CT Scan unit was upgraded to 64 slice scanning ability in 2006, more slices means more resolution – a better image and better results.
