About Us

The Northern Lights Health Foundation was established in 1985 as the lead non-profit fundraising organization to support Alberta Health Services in the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo. The Northern Lights Health Foundation connects you with the opportunity to have a direct and positive impact on health care in our community.

 

Guiding Principles

• Formal accountability to and alignment with AHS, consistent with the legislation, updated bylaws, a formal accountability framework, and supporting policies and procedures
• A commitment to ongoing research, development and compliance with the governance policy framework
• Transparent, effective and efficient management of funds
• Strong communications and related donor/stakeholder recognition and stewardship
• Through a strong governance framework, provide foundation staff with leadership, mentorship and career fulfillment

Mission Statement

In close partnership with Alberta Health Services, our donors, volunteers and stakeholders, the Northern Lights Health Foundation raises and allocates funds to enhance quality health and wellness services for all residents of the Wood Buffalo region.

 

Vision Statement

Improve health care in the region through effective programs, services, facilities, equipment and health professionals.

Northern Lights Health Foundation is a participant in Imagine Canada’s Ethical Code Program and is committed to following the Ethical Fundraising and Financial Accountability Code. We believe our donors are entitled to transparency and the greatest impact possible for their investment in local health care.
